Every now and then, I come across an article that I have to bookmark so I can refer to it again later and not let it get lost in the void of the Substack archive. This is one of those!
Been a huge fan and supporter of NTS for a few years now, i'll have to dig deeper on some of the others mentioned, but this is an awesome resource! Thanks for putting it together!
I usually tune into it randomly throughout the day when I'm looking for a specific vibe or want to let a DJ curate my listening session for me (or when I just want a break from other streaming services). I love that you can tune into the two live stations and you never really know what you might get and it's great that you can see the lineup for the day and also save shows that you like. The sheer amount of DJ sets and mixes that you can search through are endless and I really like their Infinite Mixtapes that cover various genres and sonic environments. I use the Slow Focus channel a lot to relax, meditate, or start my day or the Low Key one if I want some hiphop while I make dinner. I made a playlist on Spotify of all the songs I've found through NTS and I’m always going back and adding more, i'll share the link below if you're interested!
That sounds pretty similar to my own experience with NTS. I’ll usually listen when I’m working and don’t know exactly what I want to listen to, but I’m bored of all my Spotify recommendations.
A thing about NTS Radio that I really like is it’s an awesome “lean back” alternative for music fans who are typically more “lean forward." People who love music and care about artists want to just press play and vibe sometimes too!

Honored 🙏

Thank you! I’m also a NTS fan but curious: when do you decide to listen to NTS and what do you like most about it?

This is an interesting read…. Thanks Emily.
NTS forever
I can't believe that you don't care about what I, a random contact in your phone, am listening to! jk jk
I care what you are listening to slightly more than most people I went to high school with if that helps hehehe
This is excellent! I tried to download the database but all of the content appears to be deleted...
Woah! Not seeing that on my end, DMing you to troubleshoot.
